WARNING: Spoilers ahead for House of the Dragon and related Fire & Blood books/events.
With fans already familiar with many of the protagonists from the first season of House of the Dragon, they can start to see the dynamics between characters and the relationships between major houses of the era, which are already breaking down after just two episodes. With more political and family drama coming soon, it will develop into the events of the Dance of the Dragons.
Below you can continue reading the article
The House Targaryen may be the ruling family, but others like Hightowers and Velaryons have also shown their desire to manipulate and deceive King Viserys for their own political gain. With the second season already renewed, this show will have several seasons and appears to be following the books, which means fans can tell which houses matter most to this first season as the Targaryen Civil War approaches.
House Strong
Unlike the Lannisters or Baratheons, most Game of Thrones fans may not know much about House Strong, but they can be sure that they are vital to the story of House of the Dragon.
Ruling Harrenhal in the Riverlands at this point in the story, House Strong is in a powerful position, with Lord Lyonel Strong (Gavin Stokes) sitting on the small council as Master of Laws, who has already bent the King's ear. Two other Strongs will appear this season, Sir Harwin (Ryan Corr) and Larys (Matthew Needham). The crucial nature of this house will become apparent as they influence the beginning of the Dance of the Dragons.
House Cole may be a lesser house of the Dornish Marshes, in service to House Dondarrion, but Sir Criston Cole (Fabien Frankel) can still play a considerable role in House of the Dragon
Criston's combat ability has been talked about and his fearlessness in the face of opposition like Daemon Targaryen as well. He will continue to fight in many battles and, if the books are followed, he will become Lord Commander of the Kingsguard and a crucial catalyst in the Targaryen Civil War, whispering in the ear of the pretender king Aegon.

House Velaryon
With his patience wearing thin with Viserys, the second major betrayal in House of the Dragon occurred when Corlys went to Daemon to help against the Crab Feeder. The intrigue with his House Velaryon is far from over.
Ruling the Island of Driftmark, with Corlys Velaryon and Rhaenys Targaryen leading the way, House Velaryon has already positioned itself as a colossal house in the series with its wealth, power, forces and ties to the Targaryens. They find themselves right in the middle of everything with the Dance of the Dragons playing out in the books, involved with both claimants to the throne.

House Hightower
If fans doubted the House Hightower ability to climb the ladder of chaos to accumulate even more power, those doubts were extinguished when Viserys chose Alicent as his future wife in 'The Rogue Prince'.
Hightower is a powerful noble house and the second most important house on the show up to this point. In the future, they and House Velaryon will compete for the silver medal of importance. The role of Alicent in the Dance of the Dragons cannot be underestimated, and Otto is another version of Littlefinger or Tywin to become one of the most despicable characters in the world in the series. The tension between the two Hightower characters and others on the show is already on full display, and it will only continue as alliances are formed and rivalries follow.

House Targaryen
This show is about the Targaryens, arriving at a time before Game of Thrones, when they were at the height of their power and on the brink of tearing themselves apart. They are the House of the Dragon.
The first royal house of Westeros, descended from Valyria, seated in Dragonstone, currently led by Viserys with Rhaenyra as his heir and Daemon as his brother, the Targaryens are all over the show so far. The characters are fascinating and, as they break and form the green and black councils and war continues, this great house will only become more fascinating to watch.
