Among the many challenges that players face in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet, there's completing the Pokédex. As with Generation 8 games, many Pokémon have been cut since the initial launch, much to the dismay of many longtime fans. That said, there are still four hundred Pokémon in the Paldea region.
Despite the relatively small size of the initial Pokédex, catching all the Pokémon is still a major challenge. In the more recent games, some new features have been added to make catching easier, and some challenges have been introduced to raise the stakes in completing the Dex.

How to Complete the Pokédex in Pokémon Scarlet & Violet
Keep your eyes peeled
Pokémon in Paldea appear tiny. Since they appear in the open world, Game Freak seems to have placed particular emphasis on the size of Pokémon relative to the player. This means that one-inch Pokémon are almost impossible to spot in the wild, which can cause players to miss the chance to catch them.
Keeping a keen eye out for these small Pokémon can be worth it to complete the Dex.

In Pokémon Scarlet and Violet, as in other games, many evolved Pokémon stages roam wild areas to be caught. But some Pokémon require special tricks to evolve, or simply don't appear on the map in their evolved form. For example, the starter Pokémon cannot be found in wild areas, so they'll have to be evolved to be registered in the Dex.
Some Pokémon evolve at certain levels or after meeting certain criteria, while others require specific items. With all this in mind, it's worth reading up on Pokémon evolutions to ensure they get registered in the Pokédex.
Because of the Pokédex exclusives in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet, players can't really complete the Pokédex without playing online. Pokémon like Drifloon and Hydreigon are only available in Scarlet, while Pokémon like Misdreavus and Dragapult are only available in Violet.
This is also the case with the two remaining starters that players won't have the opportunity to get after choosing theirs, as well as the version-exclusive legendaries. Registering in the Pokédex through trading is pretty easy, since the Pokémon doesn't have to stay with the player to be registered. Just trade it as soon as it's registered and it will count toward the Dex.
