Sony announced via a statement on its social media channels that the PlayStation 5 presentation event, scheduled for Thursday, June 4, has been postponed. The decision was made due to the ongoing protests in the United States, which have brought many people to the streets.
Therefore, Sony clarified that they do not find it appropriate to hold the event during such a concerning time and that the public's attention is focused on the cause against racism. The event has been postponed and currently has no new scheduled date.
“We know gamers around the world are eager to see PS5 games, but we feel now is not a time for celebrations and, for now, we want to give space for more important voices to be heard.”
Finally, Sony maintains the PlayStation 5 launch for the end of the year, specifically at Christmas. According to the Japanese giant, production has not been affected by the Covid-19 pandemic and the release schedule remains as planned.
