Following a satirical version of superheroes, The Boys follows the plot of a rebel group whose mission is to take down and expose the corruption of Vought's 'heroes'. With Butcher as leader, followed by Hughie, Frenchie, MM, and the supers Kimiko and Starlight, the series is now in its third season.

Hughie and Butcher Have Powers in The Boys
As we explained in this article here, the third season of the series is marked by Butcher and Hughie injecting what we know as V24, an adaptation of Compound V. Developed by Vought, the drug is still in development and allows them temporary superpowers for 24 hours, unlike Compound V which is injected in babies for permanent powers.
While Butcher possesses powers similar to Homelander's, such as super strength, super durability, and heat vision, Hughie acquired teleportation powers, super strength, and enhanced durability. This allows both of them to not rely on Kimiko and Starlight, the only supers in their group, to face confrontations for them in The Boys.
As we saw in the sixth episode, titled Herogasm, the characters use V24 again and engage in an epic fight against Homelander. The face of The Seven from Vought and a (corrupt) American hero, the character faces off against Hughie, Butcher, and Soldier Boy, introduced in the third season as a satirical version of Captain America, in a fight where he ends up fleeing.
V24 Could End Up Killing Them
However, despite seeming amazing for our favorite characters, V24, as revealed in the seventh episode 'The Instant White-Hot Wild' of The Boys, is still in development. Alerted by Starlight, the characters hear from the superheroine that its use can be lethal between the third and fifth dose.
All of this certainly becomes even more concerning when we do the math and realize that both have used it at least three times by now. Even more so, using it one more time at the end of the episode.
Characters Could Possibly Acquire Powers Permanently
Between trying their luck and abandoning its use permanently, Hughie and Butcher could possibly acquire such powers permanently due to a small plot from the second season. That's because we discovered that Vought was injecting Compound V into adults, looking for a way to give them permanent powers without killing them.
These experiments led them to Cindy, a test subject for Vought in the second season of The Boys who, after many attempts, finally acquires powers permanently. So far, we don't know her whereabouts, only that she's alive.
While we see Kimiko's character focus on getting her powers back in the new year by injecting Compound V into her bloodstream, nothing stops the producers from believing that Hughie and Butcher would be inspired by the same.
Learn Everything About The Boys' Third Season
It's been a quiet year. Homelander has been subdued. Butcher works for the government, supervised by none other than Hughie. But the two are itching to turn that peace and quiet into blood and bone. So when the Boys discover a mysterious anti-Supe weapon, they collide with The Seven, starting a war and investigating the legend of the first superhero: Soldier Boy.
