After officially announcing the arrival of its current console in Brazil, Nintendo has finally revealed more details. According to current information, the Nintendo Switch will be launched in the country on September 18, with a suggested price of R$ 2,999.00. Thus, the price is practically the same as the gray market (which can be even higher due to the dollar's rise).
Additionally, it was confirmed that the console will arrive in two versions: one with gray Joy-Cons and another with colored Joy-Cons.
The console format in Brazil will be only the traditional one. The Lite model will not yet arrive in the Brazilian market, being scheduled only for mid-2021.
Extra accessories sold separately were also confirmed, including the Joy-Con kit (in neon red and blue or purple and neon green), costing R$ 499.00, and the Pro Controller, which will cost R$ 469.00. Therefore, the initial sales format in Brazil will closely follow the console's worldwide launch about three years ago.
It is worth noting that the models sold in the country will be imported from China through the official distributors Rcell and Ingram Micro Brasil. All released products will be sold in major retail chains, including Magazine Luiza, Americanas, and Submarino.
Regarding game launches in Brazil, Nintendo will continue with digital sales. However, there is strong interest in bringing a dedicated eShop, which should happen later. Physical media titles are off the company's radar, which bets much more on online sales of its library.
Although Nintendo's return to the country is still very timid, there is a strong chance that the market comeback will bring many titles with Portuguese subtitles, such as the remake Super Mario 3D World, which has already been confirmed. In fact, the company is also studying the possibility of manufacturing consoles in Latin America, which would facilitate logistics and reduce costs, consequently lowering the sale price. However, such plans are expected to be adopted in the long term or after sales consolidation in the Brazilian market.
