Final Fantasy XIV will receive its next update, Patch 6.3, Gods Revel, Lands Tremble, in January.
There will be new main story quests in the update, with this premise awaiting those ready to continue their adventures when the update arrives.

New Final Fantasy XIV Update Arrives in January
A new dungeon will arrive in the update. Lapis Manalis will take you to travel to a remote, abandoned mountain village, where you discover the Garleans practiced the arts of the reaper. And you are pursuing voidsent.
The new update on the mini site also showcases the Unreal Trial, Containment Bay P1T6 (Unreal). It’s time to face the Goddess Sophia once again, and this time, there are some additional challenges to try to stop her.
Expect the minisite to continue being updated until the patch is ready for release. There will be much more in the 6.3x series, including updates for Island Sanctuary, new custom deliveries, more sidequests, a new Ultimate Raid, a new Alliance Raid Dungeon, and much more.
