Set in 1814, we see James Keziah Delaney (Tom Hardy), who returns to England after spending several years in Africa. The character returns to his homeland seeking revenge following the mysterious death of his father. However, Delaney must face a corrupt, degrading society filled with political intrigue. And while trying to recover his fortune, he is threatened by powerful members of the East India Company. Additionally, during this same historical period, we can follow the war between England and the United States.
Filled with historical passages and with an appeal to African culture, where Delaney lived for many years, the production is a solid choice. However, the series hasn't had its second season confirmed yet, despite having scripts ready since 2019, according to screenwriter Steven Knight's interview with Collider.
