A touching story full of love
In Always by Your Side, Parker Wilson (Richard Gere) is a university professor who, on his way back from work, finds a puppy of the akita breed at the train station, known for its loyalty. Unable to leave him at the station, Parker takes him home even though Cate (Joan Allen), his wife, is against the presence of a dog.
Gradually, Parker becomes attached to the puppy, who has the name Hachi written on his collar, in Japanese. Cate gives in and accepts his presence. Hachi grows up and begins to accompany Parker to the train station, returning to the place at the time the professor comes back. Until an unexpected event changes his life.
The film is based on a true story, but one that happened in Japan during the 1920s. Every day between 1925 and 1935, Hachiko waited for his friend to return at a Tokyo train station.
