Quantic Dream has no plans to adapt its games for movies or series at the moment

Quantic Dream games shouldn't reach the screen

In an interview with IGN this past Wednesday, November 30th, David Cage, president of Quantic Dream, confirmed that the studio is not actively planning to sell the rights to its projects for adaptation to the big screen.

According to his statement, the studio, which is actively working on Star Wars Eclipse, a future game published by LucasFilm Games, shouldn't be coming to movie theaters anytime soon.

"In terms of selling the rights of one of our games to a film studio to produce an adaptation, that's not something we're actively interested in."

However, this doesn't mean the company isn't interested in investing in television projects, as the president reports. According to him, Quantic Dream is keeping an eye on what Netflix did with Bandersnatch, an interactive Black Mirror episode. 

This project, which allows fans to choose character actions and be taken to various different endings, is extremely similar to Detroit: Become Human, the company's game that became a reference point in the genre industry.

"It's interesting to see what Netflix and other people are doing with interactive series experiments. That's really a dominant culture, it's about having a conversation with people who aren't gamers, with everyone really, and giving them the ability to change the course of the story based on their choices."

The Quantic Dream president calls this a simplified version of what the company does with games, and states that although the interest is there, there is no active project for this type of production.

Ultimately, he made clear that Netflix's approach to interactive TV is an exciting big step, stating there's a future for this kind of storytelling in the film industry.
