Despite being one of the great villains in Naruto, Madara wasn't always the evil character we saw in the franchise of the world's most famous ninja. If we analyze his trajectory in the hero's saga, we can see that several events that happened to him can explain how he became one of the main antagonists of the story.

Events during the Warring States Era gave life to the character's hatred
Madara was born during the Warring States Era, where he witnessed his four brothers being killed during the various wars that occurred between the clans. However, one loss was more significant, as when Izuna Uchiha died, his hatred grew greatly, making him a true time bomb.
When he developed power over his Sharingan, the character began to have a different vision of the world around him. Furthermore, even with the alliance with Senju for the founding of Konoha, he didn't believe that peace would be achieved that way.
Several reasons contributed to Madara's change
With all these situations, Black Zetsu took the opportunity and modified the tablet with the inscriptions of the Sage of Six Paths. With this, Madara began to believe that the only way to save the Uchiha clan and achieve peace would be through the Infinite Tsukuyomi. The genjutsu is one of the most powerful that exists, being capable of putting the entire world into an eternal dream.
Because of this, Madara began to walk down the evil path, where he tried to convince the other clans and then Konoha, initiating his Moon Eye Plan. However, the path of illusions walked by Madara has several parallels with Sasuke's story, where the only difference is that Naruto never gave up on his friend, doing everything to rescue him.
