Important Character Dies in Recent Superman & Lois Episode

Episode 7 of Season 2 of Superman & Lois saw the unexpected death of a major new character. The latest episode of Superman & Lois, titled "Anti-Hero", began with Superman (Tyler Hoechlin) drained in a red solar prison cell and confined with his half-brother Tal-Rho (Adam Rayner). Under the orders of General Mitch Anderson (Ian Bohen), Superman's confinement is aimed at forcing him to reveal the location of his clone, Bizarro, but the Man of Steel refuses.

After Superman and Tal-Rho manage to escape their confinement, they return to the latter's Fortress of Solitude to get more answers from Bizarro. It doesn't take long for General Anderson to arrive, now wielding Kryptonian powers through the use of X-Kryptonite. In the ensuing battle, Anderson faces Bizarro, leaving Kal-El's alternate self apparently dead. The second season of Superman & Lois has brought unexpected twists in practically every episode, like setting up Jonathan Kent's (Jordan Elsass) powers. Bizarro's sudden disappearance, as one of Superman's most famous adversaries in the comics, certainly counts as one. However, it may be that Superman & Lois is once again diverting viewers' collective attention away from the bigger picture. Bizarro's arrival was initially masked, literally in his case, with Apokalypse provocations scratching the surface of Smallville from the depths of the mines. Even after Bizarro's surprise reveal, Superman & Lois kept viewers guessing with the revelation of its true target, cult leader Ally Alston (Rya Kihlstedt). Bizarro made a big effort to warn Superman about the danger she represents, especially if she gets her hands on both alien pendants seen on the show. Following Bizarro's apparent death, "Anti-Hero" ends with exactly that happening, Anderson handing over the second pendant to the false ally. While the true nature of Ally, possibly as Parasite, has always been revealed in Superman & Lois, an iconic Superman villain like Bizarro being killed mid-season seems an unlikely outcome. Especially with Bizarro being both very precise in his appearance and powers, and seeming less and less like a villain as the second season has progressed.
