With 90% audience approval, Uncharted: Off the Map hit theaters in February this year, starring Tom Holland and Mark Wahlberg. In the roles of Nathan Drake and Victor Sullivan, respectively, the film is an adaptation of the early events of Uncharted: Drake's Fortune.

Its plot follows Nathan Drake, a young bartender treasure hunter who is recruited by Sullivan in the search for the 'greatest treasure ever found'. Heading to the South American city of El Dorado, the duo ends up pursued by mercenaries while searching for clues about the disappearance of Nathan's brother, Sam Drake (Rudy Pankow).
In the games, Nathan is voiced by Nolan North, while Sam is voiced by Troy Baker.

While Nathan is told his brother is dead, the post-credits scene of Uncharted: Off the Map disagrees! While we don't have many details about his story, Sam Drake is seen writing letters to his brother while sitting in a prison in the film's post-credits scene.
Although not canonical to the official universe, Uncharted uses several elements from the franchise games, and this can tell us what stories the franchise will take in the future.
The future of the brothers in the films
In the story of Uncharted 4: A Thief's End, we see Sam and Nathan entering a Panamanian prison in search of pirate Henry Avery's treasure. Separated and in trouble, the characters try to escape, in which Sam is shot and left behind while Nathan escapes and believes his brother is dead. However, he had actually survived and reappears 15 years later.

With that in mind, the similarities to the game are sudden, but they're there. It's possible that the film franchise will follow a story similar to the fourth game in Nathan Drake's franchise. The post-credits scene becomes a major link to a possible sequel, in which the younger Drake discovers his brother's whereabouts.
Uncharted trilogy should happen
In a recent report revealed by The Ankler, Sony Pictures already states that Uncharted has become a film franchise, with its CEO, Tom Rothman, excited to work on. If true, this won't be the last time we see Tom Holland and Rudy Pankow as Nathan and Sam Drake on screens worldwide.
