The X-Men hold a unique place in comic book history. Long before the consolidation of the Marvel Cinematic Universe in theaters, mutants were already protagonists of dense, politicized and emotionally complex narratives. Since their creation in the 1960s, the team has always been more than a group of superheroes: it is a powerful metaphor for prejudice, social exclusion and identity.

However, with decades of accumulated stories, different creative teams and constant reinventions, the X-Men also carry controversial narrative decisions that divide fans to this day. Many of these issues are frequently ignored or softened by nostalgia, creating an idealized view that does not always correspond to the reality of the comics.
