Even with the distractions, Young-ho cannot forget So-yeon. He decides to take a different path by quitting the prep course, traveling to Japan to take a course, and after a year, returns as an umbrella specialist, opening a store with creative umbrella-related products. The climax of the story happens when So-hee informs Young-ho that he can meet her on December 31st, 2003, if it rains. This is her birthday, and Young-ho maintains the tradition of going to a small plaza on this day every year, hoping to see So-yeon again and, who knows, the rain being the symbol of a meaningful reunion.
