Alexander Ludwig stars in "Earth Abides", MGM+ post-apocalyptic series

George R. Stewart is celebrated to this day for his science fiction masterpiece "Earth Abides", and now, fans of the genre have one more reason to celebrate. MGM+ has just announced that the book, which depicts the post-apocalyptic world following a global plague, will be adapted into a limited series.
The project will be helmed by creator and producer Todd Komarnicki, known for his work on "Sully", and will star Alexander Ludwig, the lead from "Vikings" and "The Covenant", as the protagonist. There had been rumors about the development of this adaptation, but now MGM+ officially confirms that six episodes will be produced to tell the story of the 1949 book. In the official description, the plot follows Ish, played by Ludwig, a brilliant yet solitary young geologist who lives a semi-isolated life. After waking from a coma, Ish discovers he is alone in a world where a plague of unprecedented virulence has decimated the global population. There are, indeed, some survivors scattered around, but there are no more rules.
