The plot follows the story of Milos (played by Srdjan Todorovic), a retired pornographic actor who lives with his wife, Marija (played by Jelena Gavrilovic), and his young son, Petar (played by Luka Mijatovic). Milos, facing financial difficulties, is approached by Vukmir (played by Sergej Trifunovic), a mysterious and wealthy film producer, who offers him a highly lucrative role in an art project.
Milos accepts the offer and finds himself drawn into a disturbing world of violence, perversion, and cruelty. As the filming progresses, Milos begins to lose control of his own conscience and morality, being dragged deeper and deeper into the abyss of depravity.
The controversy surrounding A Serbian Film
"A Serbian Film" generated major controversy due to its explicit scenes of violence, sexual abuse, and pedophilia. Some critics view the film as a metaphor for the suffering and brutality experienced by the Serbian population during the war and post-war period in the former Yugoslavia, while others see the film as simply a work of gratuitous exploitation and torture.
The film was banned or heavily censored in various countries, such as Australia, New Zealand, Norway, Spain, and Germany, among others, including here in Brazil, where it was temporarily banned.
